About Me
I have been fishing since the age of four and my first fish was of course a wonderful brown trout. During my journey I qualified with Apgai Ireland as a casting instructor.
My reason for doing this was i wanted to educate myself further in angling to be able to assist people that are at various stages of their angling career in a professional way.
I am lucky enough to work with some of the industry’s leading brands such as Yeti , Cadence , Fulling Mill and Patagonia . With my team of guides i now guide for close to a thousand clients a season from beginners to experienced anglers. I fish for various species on the fly depending on the season.
My team fly fish for freshwater species,migatory species and saltwater species so there are plenty of challenges. All other guides and services i collaborate with have been tried and tested by myself and i chose to collaborate with them because they were as passionate as me about angling but also on giving the client a special experience.
All email queries will be answered usually within one hour but we guarantee it will be answered the same day. I also have a listing of accommodation and can assist with your booking. If you are travelling with family and need something to keep them entertained, please ask about the surrounding area and things to do, I will happily assist.
Techniques
I have trained with international competition anglers on different techniques which include dry fly, wet fly,nymphing,dry dropper and streamers. I picked up many other techniques from them to. I understand what it takes to give you the best chance of a fish.
Rivers
I have access to many rivers across Ireland such as the R.Nore , Kings River, R.Barrow , R.Suir and Blackwater. All present their own challenges and rewards. I will discuss each area with you so we can best decide what suits you.
Equipment
I can provide all the equipment needed for the trip. The equipment is included in the price you are given for the trip. If you require a specific rod set up just ask, I stock rods from 2wt to 10wt.I only use equipment from top quality companies such as Cadence and Yeti.
Permits
I will ensure we have all the required permits for the location we visit. The fee you are given for your trip includes all the necessary permits.
Accommodation
If you are travelling from overseas and would like some assistance with organizing accommodation i can assist, it's as easy as just asking.
Things to do
Nowadays holidays are booked by a family with the angler in the family in mind.They like to book a trip that perhaps the angler in their life can get a cast in somewhere. I am happy to take you fishing and also give recommendations for things to do in the area for the family and help you keep everyone happy.
What to expect
I believe that fishing is the ultimate get away. It's you and the fish all surrounded by nature's beauty. I have been guiding since the age of 14 so have 20 years guiding experience. I enjoy showing what Ireland has to offer the angler and enjoy bringing that to life. I enjoy hearing anglers' stories from afar and sharing some of my own. The excitement of seeing other people catch fish has led me to be an extremely passionate fishing guide. I fish all techniques and can teach you any you would like to learn. We will start off our trip with a walk to the fishing beat, discuss tactics and then enter the water to begin our adventure.We will switch and change tactics as we need to in order to catch a fish.I am also an Apgai casting instructor and studied 28 single handed casts for my exam,so if you need to present a fly in a certain way there may be a cast for you which means we fish and learn.
